આ શ્રેણીના અન્ય પુસ્તકોની સરખામણીમાં 101 વિશ્વવિખ્યાત સ્ત્રીઓનાં આ પુસ્તકમાં 101 મહિલાઓની પસંદગીનું કાર્ય વધારે મુશ્કેલ હતું. માનવજાતિના છેલ્લા 5000 વર્ષના જ્ઞાત ઇતિહાસમાં એવી અનેક સ્ત્રીઓએ જન્મ લીધો છે, જેમણે વિશ્વને નવો રાહ બતાવ્યો હોય. હકીકતમાં તો ઇતિહાસના દરેક કાલખંડ માટે 101 મહાન સ્ત્રીઓનું એક પુસ્તક થઇ શકે અને આવા પાંચેક પુસ્તકો તો સહેજે થાય એવડી યાદી બની શકે. પરંતુ આ શ્રેણીના સ્વરૂપ મુજબ ફક્ત એક જ પુસ્તક કરવાનું હતું અને તેમાં પણ 101 નામોની મર્યાદા હતી, માટે ઈતિહાસકારોએ બનાવેલી યાદી પર આધાર રાખી આ પુસ્તકમાં 101 મહિલાઓની મહિમાનું યશોગાન કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. આ પુસ્તકમાં સીતા, સાવિત્રી, પાર્વતી, દ્રૌપદી, ઘોષા, લોપામુદ્રા, મૈત્રયી, ગાર્ગી, અનસુયા, સત્યભામા વગેરે પ્રસિદ્ધ ભારતીય ચરિત્રોનો સમાવેશ કરાયો નથી કેમકે આમાંના અમુક નામો આસ્થાના પ્રતિક છે, તેમને ફક્ત 101 વિખ્યાત સ્ત્રીઓની યાદીમાં સમાવી મૂલ્યાંકન કરવું યોગ્ય લાગ્યું નથી. વળી, આમાંના મોટાભાગના નામો અંગે આપણે પ્રાથમિક માહિતી ધરાવીએ જ છીએ. આસ્થાના પ્રતિકસમા આવા નામોને બદલે ઐતિહાસિક રીતે અસ્તિત્વ ધરાવતા એવા નામોનો સમાવેશ આ પુસ્તકમાં કરાયો છે કે જેમના વિષે આપણે ખાસ કશું જાણતા ન હોઈએ. આ શ્રેણીના અન્ય પુસ્તકોની જેમ આ પુસ્તકમાં પણ ક્રમ જન્મના સમયગાળા મુજબનો રાખ્યો છે. તો પ્રસ્તુત છે જગતની મહિમાવંત મહિલાઓનું મહિમાગાન.

The book does not include famous Indian characters such as Sita, Savitri, Parvati, Draupadi, Ghosha, Lopamudra, Maitreyi, Gargi, Anusuya, Satyabhama etc. Some of these names are symbols of faith, it is not appropriate to evaluate them included in the list of 101 Famous Women Only.
